Cannot access a specific website from any of my Azure VM's

Hi(Based in UK),

I have a client who cannot access a specific website from their AVD. I connected to the DC in the same Azure tenant and get the same 403 forbidden error. So it looks like its the entire Azure environment.

The url in question is https://customer.britishgaslite.co.uk/#/login So nothing really dodgy about it. It works fine outside the VM's from their physical device and anywhere else other then their azure environment.

The outbound connection is set to all, i have checked local firewall policies and they look fine.

It makes me wonder if its more the site in question that doesn't like incoming connections from Azure.

Am i missing something? Network watcher extension is not installed, appears like its a paid for extension and the client is watching their pennies.

Thanks

    Hello, @Zenzero Admin !

Why am I getting a 403 forbidden error when attempting to access a specific website using Azure Virtual Desktop?

I spoke with the Azure Virtual Desktop team about this and both AVD and Azure allow outbound internet access to everything by default so this should be a setting on the website itself (perhaps a security setting that is blocking access to the session host VMs).

One thing to look at would be whether the DNS resolution of the site is different between the 2 locations. This would more likely impact the site's hosting where it may be resolved differently based on the DNS server doing the lookup, which could lead to the 403 error if you were hitting a different web service coming from the AVD host.

Having said that, there have been a number of similar reports with no definitive resolution. If DNS resolution doesn't appear to be the cause then please email the following to AzCommunity@microsoft.com and we'll get back to you promptly:

    • Subject: "Attn: kobulloc - AVD returns 403 on website"
